Nelson Evora clarified on Tuesday a controversial Rádio Observador interview on the social network. Instagram.
The sportsman’s statement says that in the interview he praised the work of Pablo Pichardo and that he wanted to emphasize on the issue of Portuguese citizenship that “all athletes deserve the same equal opportunity to represent Portugal”.
Nelson Evora also says he has several friends awaiting Portuguese citizenship and says the focus is on ensuring that other athletes who can and want to represent Portugal are not forgotten.
“Don’t forget about other athletes who can and want to represent Portugal with honor,” he says.
The clarification came after athlete Pablo Pichardo and his father reacted to Nelson Evora’s insinuations.
