A record Baskonia knocks down Maccabi (116-87)

Euskaraz irakurri: Baskoniak errekorra eta garaipena lortu ditu Maccabiren aurka (116-87)

Cazoo Baskonia achieved the highest score in its history in the Euroleague with which beat Maccabi Tel-Aviv, 116-87in a duel in which the azulgranas managed to get the game back on track from the first quarter thanks to a 35-20.

The team from Vitoria managed to recover the path of victory in Europe thanks to teamwork, led by darius thompson, Markus Howard Y Maik Kotsar.

The initial exchange of blows fell on the local side. The yellows tried to hinder Baskonia with a face-to-face defense throughout the court, but the Alava team chose a large part of their attacks correctly.

The success of the Catalans from outside weighed more than the offensive rebound of the Jewish team and the match had the first gap with a 17-8 at five minutes.

The entrance of Markus Howard and Pierrià Henry and nine points from Lithuanian Rokas Giedraitis turned the game around until the 35-20.

Joan Peñarroya’s team raised the difference to 22 points with a 9-3 to start a second round.

Several mistakes by the Basques put Maccabi in the game. Those of Oded Kattash played above the hoop, where Baskonia did not reach and the result still reflected a 46-36.

The azulgranas put out the Israeli fire three by three and opened a gap again to go to rest with a 63-42.

Nebo and Brown tried to change the script after the break, but the Baskonia did not stop playing their game.

Maccabi alternated his defenses, tried the zonal defense and 11 almost consecutive points from Wade Baldwin tried to put Maccabi back in the game, but the sparks of Howard, Thompson and Kotsar kept the lead in a comfortable 90-67.

The scoring rhythm dropped in the final round, which favored a Baskonia that liked each other at various moments in the final stretch of a duel that set another historical record in the Euroleague for the Basques with 116 points scored and 87 received.
