GNR seized 400 counterfeit goods in the Algarve and became a defendant

GNR on Wednesday seized 400 counterfeit products in Faro district that were sold through social networks, with the woman accused of facts, the military police corporation said this Thursday.

The Faro Fiscal Measures (UAF) operation of the GNR was carried out as part of an investigation into industrial property related to counterfeiting, imitation and illegal use of a trademark that lasted for about a year, and the confiscated materials will have a market value of 9,400 euros, according to police statement.

The investigation found that the woman was selling several counterfeit goods, namely clothes, shoes and fashion accessories, through social networks, completing three search warrants, one at home and two in cars, as a result of which counterfeit materials were detained.

In addition to 411 counterfeit items, a mobile phone and documentary evidence were also seized, law enforcement agencies said.

“The charge was brought against a 35-year-old woman and the facts were referred to the Faro Judicial Court,” noted GNR, estimating that the activities terminated through this operation called “Online Store II” could “damage the Portuguese State from the point of in terms of value added tax (VAT) in the amount of approximately 2162 euros.

This is the third operation carried out by GNR in Faro district to combat the sale of counterfeit material through social media within a week.

Last Thursday, GNR announced it had seized more than 1,500 counterfeit goods in the Algarve in two separate operations, with a woman who sold goods on social media being charged and identifying 11 street vendors.

A 47-year-old woman who sold goods on social networks was accused in one of the operations, called “Online store”, by the Faro AFU, and 755 counterfeit goods were seized.

In another action in Quarteira, the PNC Territorial Detachment from Loulé identified 11 street vendors and seized 781 counterfeit items, including clothes, shoes and fashion accessories.
