According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the areas of Castelo Branco and Guarda are under yellow warning this Saturday due to predicted snowfall above 1600 meters.
According to the same source, the snow warning, which was in effect from 5:46 am, will be in effect until 12:00 this Saturday in these two areas.
The warning concerns snowfall above 1600 meters and the possibility of accumulation of 5 to 10 centimeters above 1800 meters, with an IPMA warning of possible circulation disturbances, blocked roads or roads and possible ice formation.
A Yellow Alert is issued by IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather dependent activities.
IPMA is predicting showers across the continent this Saturday, with moderate to light winds from midday onwards.
The forecast also indicates sharp overnight cooling and a slight drop in minimum temperatures and heavy seas on the west coast, with a yellow warning in 10 areas due to sea conditions ending at 6:00 this Saturday.
