Jokin Altuna will play the final of the Cuatro y Medio championship after defeating Aitor Elordi 22-7 this Sunday. The pelotari from Amezketa has shown his superiority in the pelota court against the pelotari who qualified for the semifinals giving the surprise. Elordi tried to score goals, especially at the start of the game, but his mistakes and Altuna’s spectacular play left him with no chance of victory.
Altuna III has reached the semifinals in second place in group A of the quarterfinal group. In addition, he was the only player who played three games in his group. In the first match he achieved the victory against Peña II (22-16). However, the man from Tolosa was injured and had to leave the championship. Consequently, the party was invalidated for classification.
If that wasn’t enough, in the next game he suffered a loss to Peio Etxeberria (22-15). Thus, it was essential for him to win the remaining match if he wanted to be in the final. And that he did. He left Darío in only three goals (22-3)demonstrating his experience in the championship.
before him, Joseba Ezkurdia won the first ticket to play in the championship final after beating Peio Etxeberria 22-14. The two pelotaris from Aspe played an even semifinal, but the one from Arbizu managed to get ahead and Etxeberria was not able to come back.
Ezkurdia qualified for the semifinals, achieving second place in group B of the quarterfinal group. There he played three games and, after lose the first match against Elordi (22-17)was obliged to win the other two in order to play in the final.
With that objective he achieved his first victory with an exhibition in view of Elezcano (22-12)and with a similar result also beat Laso (22-11)beating one of the championship favourites.
Thus, Ezkurdia and Altuna III will dispute the final of the Cuatro y Medio championship on November 20 at the Bizkaia fronton to decide who is the 2022 champion.
