Portugal with all the players on the field during the second training session

On Tuesday, the Portugal national football team held a second training session in preparation for their debut in Group J of the Euro 2024 qualifying stage against Liechtenstein, where all the players were on the field.

On the day of the start of work with a new coach, on Monday, the 25 players called out were limited to performing recovery work, but at the initial stage of training, open to journalists, they trained only on exercise bikes and on mattresses on the lawn.

Already in this second preparation, during the first 15 minutes open to the media, a group of field players started the session with a run on the lawn next to the main one in Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, followed by exercises with and without the ball.

Goalkeepers Rui Patricio, Diogo Costa, José Sa and the young Selton Biai, who would later join the Portugal under-21s, did some concrete work next to one of the goals.

Portugal will make their debut in Group J of the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier on Thursday against Liechtenstein at 19:45 at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon in a meeting headed by Norway’s Espen Escas.

Three days later, on Sunday, the quinas team travels to the Estádio do Luxemburgo to meet the local team, also from 19:45 (Lisbon time).

Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovakia and Iceland are the other teams that make up the Euro 2024 qualifying ‘Group J’, with Portugal needing to finish in one of the top two places to have direct access to the final phase of the competition scheduled for Germany (14 June to July 14, 2024).
