Bidasoa Irun said goodbye to the Copa del Rey handball after lose against Malaga by 25-22 this Wednesday, November 9, the match corresponding to the second round of the tournament. Therefore, the irunés team was eliminated. On the other hand the Helvetia Anaitasuna beat BM Puerto Sagunto 28-36 Y go to the next round.
The surprise jumped in Malaga, since the Andalusian team from the Second Division beat the Basque team from the highest category. The difference in category was not noticed on the Malaga court. The locals came into the break with a two-goal lead (11-9) after an even first half. Halfway through the second half, Bidasoa Irun tied the match (18-18), but Málaga was superior in the final stretch and won (25-22).
For its part, Helvetia Anaitasuna gave no chance for surprise and won their visit to BM Sagunto. The Navarrese team made their rivals feel the difference in category, since Puerto Sagunto competes in the Second Division and Pamplona in the First Division. Anaitasuna left the game on track when they reached the break (13-19). Those from Navarra had the match under control in the second half and after sealing the victory (28-36) they managed to pass to the next tie.
