The marketing campaign for cashews in Guinea-Bissau has already begun and the government has set an indicative purchase price from the manufacturer at 375 CFA francs (about 0.57 euros) per kilo, according to Guinean government sources.
The 2023 cashew season started on March 31st and the price set for this year is exactly the same as last year.
Guinea-Bissau exported 185,000 tons in 2022, of which 55,000 tons remain, 26,000 of which were exported between January and February this year, according to data released by the Guinean press.
The International Monetary Fund said in March that Guinea-Bissau’s 2022 economic growth of 3.5% was impacted by a decline in cashew exports.
More than 80% of the population of Guinea depends directly or indirectly on the marketing campaign of cashew nuts, the country’s main export product.
