According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), eighteen municipalities in the central part of the country and the Algarve region are in very high fire danger this Wednesday.
IPMA has also classified more than 50 municipalities at high risk in the districts of Bragança, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Leiria, Lisbon, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.
Almost all of the rest of the Portuguese mainland is in moderate fire danger, with the exception of some municipalities on the northern coast and hinterland of the districts of Viana do Castelo, Porto, Vila Real, Coimbra and Leiria, and the municipality of Vila do Bispo, Faro District which pose less of a risk.

The fire danger defined by IPMA has five levels, from minimum to maximum. Calculations are made based on air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and precipitation over the past 24 hours.
This Wednesday, IPMA forecasts clear to slightly cloudy skies with periods of more cloudiness due to high cloudiness in the north starting in the afternoon and occasional strong winds in the highlands.
A slight decrease in the minimum temperature is also expected, especially in the interior northern and central regions, and a slight increase in the maximum temperature in the central and southern regions, more significant in Baixo Alentejo and the Algarve.
In terms of temperature, the minimum temperature will range from 0 degrees Celsius (Braganca) to 14ºC (Sines), while the maximum temperature will range from 18ºC (Guarda) to 30ºC (Setúbal).
