The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique announced that the Japanese government will offer a reconnaissance vessel and air navigation equipment worth more than US$23 million (more than €21 million).
This was stated by Veronica Macamo after the ceremony of signing the donation agreement in Maputo.
As part of the deal, Tokyo will provide an $830,000 (€760,000) reconnaissance vessel, still under construction, and $22.5 million (€20.6 million) air navigation equipment, Makamo said.
“We express our deep gratitude to the people and government of Japan for their continued support for Mozambique’s economic and social development efforts, and we reaffirm our desire to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship,” said the Minister of Business and Cooperation of Mozambique. .
The agreement provides for the supply of ground-to-air communication radio stations, fire engines, drones, airfield weather stations and an air traffic control simulator.
An extensive training program for operational personnel, namely air traffic controllers and maintenance personnel, will also be implemented.
