Sporting Braga will host Estoril Praia this Saturday and hope to take advantage of Benfica’s loss to Porto to move closer to the top in the 27th round of the 1st Portuguese Football League.
The Dragons, national champions, won the classic on Saturday 2-1, cutting Benfica’s one-off lead to seven and temporarily distancing themselves from Braga.
If they win the last game of the day, scheduled for 20:30, Sporting de Braga will replace Porto by two points and close Benfica’s gap to nine.
Ahead, Artur Jorge’s men will face 15th-placed Estoril Praia, the first at risk of relegation to come back to victory in the last round against Gil Vicente after six straight defeats.
Earlier, Aroca, fifth with 41, is trying to take advantage of the defeat away from Boavista from Vitoria de Guimarães, in the reception to the “disastrous” Maritim, 16th and penultimate, from 19, from 15:30.
Shortly thereafter, Rio Ave and Famalicán, 9th and 10th with 33 points, are looking to secure a more relaxed position in the standings, away from Portimonense, 14th, with 26, and Pacos de Ferreira, 17th, from 17, both scheduled for 18:00.
