Shakur Stevenson won’t be in the lightweight class for a while. It may not be fair to be ranked #2 by the WBO and #3 by the WBC.
Tonight, he will face Japanese WBO Asia Pacific Champion Shuichiro Yoshino in an eliminator for the WBA lightweight title.
All roads eventually lead either to Vasily Lomachenko or Devin Haney, who will fight for undisputed status on May 20. At least that’s the theory: Stevenson is aiming for a rematch with Robeiçi Ramirez, the man who defeated him by split decision in the gold medal match at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Promoter Bob Arum believes Stevenson is ready to fight an aging Lomachenko or a seemingly invincible version of Haney. Arum capitalizes on the excitement that has surrounded the young American since his early days, who faded a bit after relinquishing his WBO featherweight title and then losing his WBO super featherweight title.
“He walks around with a smile, and I can’t wait to wipe that smile off his face,” Stevenson warned Yoshino.
“This guy was running around saying that I have no power. He said he would give me a moral boost. Let’s see if he’s ready to go into deep waters with me. I will drown him.
“You will see everything at Arsenal. I go out and hit him. I’m going to beat him. He’s going to leave this ring knowing that I’m the best fighter he’s ever been in the ring with.”
Yoshino is invincible and has never fought in the USA. However, his punch is well deserved after knocking out Masayoshi Nakatani in his last appearance.
To put this feat into perspective, Nakatani has previously only lost to Lomachenko and former lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez. This is one of 12 knockouts in Yoshino’s 16-0 record.
After going the distance with Oscar Valdez and Robson Conceicao, he hinted that he won’t be fighting for a knockout against Yoshino, so we can expect another measured game from Stevenson, but we won’t see Lomachenko’s result against Haney just yet. or von Gervont, we know Davis’ intermediate weight. fight against Ryan Garcia, it is unclear what will happen next.

Rodriguez vs. Gonzalez
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez will become one of the youngest two-weight world champions in history when he takes on Christian Gonzalez in San Antonio.
Rodriguez already holds the WBC heavyweight title, which he won last year when he defeated Israel Gonzalez by unanimous decision.

Amir Khan has made the decision to retire from boxing after being suspended by the UK Anti-Doping Authority (Ukad) after losing to Kell Brook. I understands.
Brook stopped Khan in the sixth round of a feud match in February 2022. Following this fight, Khan tested positive for the banned substance ostarine, though he insists that the bodybuilding drug was unintentional. Post-fight drug testing will be done by independent companies.
Ukada’s scientific experts considered it highly unlikely that it entered its system prior to February 12th. The fight took place on February 19. However, an independent court found that he did not intentionally use the banned substance, and so the original four-year ban was reduced to two.
I were told that Khan could not appeal the decision because all sports were banned, not just boxing. A source who worked closely with Khan called the revelations a “complete shock”.
The promoters also insisted they were being kept in the dark about Boxxer’s Ben Shalom. I: “I named the board [British Boxing Board of Control] today when I saw this on social media and said, “Do you know about this?” and they said, “I only found out yesterday.”
“We didn’t even know that there was a trial. We didn’t even know [Khan] failed the test. This is absolutely insane. And it’s dangerous.”

Former sparring partners Lawrence Okoli and Chris Billam-Smith will fight for the WBO heavyweight belt Okoli on May 27 at Vitality Stadium.
