14 road fatalities in first four days of GNR’s Easter operation

A total of 14 deaths in more than 800 traffic accidents were reported during the Easter 2023 GNR operation from Thursday to Sunday, according to preliminary data.

According to information available on the GNR website, there were 802 accidents up until midnight on Sunday, resulting in 14 deaths, 27 serious injuries and 267 minor injuries.

The GNR statement also added that during the Easter 2023 inspection and intensive patrol period from April 6 to April 9, it observed 25,204 drivers, of whom 362 were driving under the influence of alcohol. Of these, 227 people were arrested for driving a car with a blood alcohol content of at least 1.2 g/l.

He also added that 85 people were arrested for driving without a license.

Of the 4,565 traffic violations identified, NDR allocates 2,679 for speeding, 384 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 123 for malfunctions in lighting and signaling systems, 130 for improper use of a mobile phone while driving, 239 for lack of or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child seats and 157 due to the lack of compulsory civil liability insurance.

GNR’s Easter 2023 operation, which began on Thursday, will run until Tuesday.

This operation focuses on the safety and protection of people and therefore goes beyond checking roads, with GNR’s efforts also focused on celebration venues and their surroundings, as well as residential and commercial areas, focusing on “road tracks”. the most responsible highways.
