A Polish citizen was arrested in the municipality of Torres Vedras for having an arrest warrant for paying rent fraud in several European countries, GNR reported on Monday.
The man “practiced fraud in paying for accommodation in the countries he visited and made it his way of life,” a GNR source told Lusa.
The 26-year-old suspect was arrested as he prepared to commit another scam in the Campismo de Santa Cruz park.
He claimed he had already paid the stay to park officials as he was called to the GNR, whose military later confirmed that he had a European arrest warrant for offenses of qualified fraud as of 2022.
According to the same source, the man was present at the Lisbon Court of Appeal and was transferred to a Lisbon prison to be extradited to his country to serve his sentence.
