According to data sent by the company to Lusa, CP delayed 106 trains, mostly regional, out of 648 scheduled for this Sunday until 7:00 pm due to workers’ strikes.
The number of suppressed connections is 16.4% of the total scheduled for this Sunday from 00:00 to 19:00.
CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that out of 192 planned regional trains, 53 connections were not made (27.6% of the total).
According to the CP situation report, 256 flights were scheduled to Lisbon and 36 (14.1%) were cancelled.
In cities in Porto, out of 127 planned, eight (6.3%) were canceled, and in cities in Coimbra, 21 were planned, and there were no cancellations.
The situation was different for long-distance trains, with 52 planned and 9 canceled (17.3%).
During April there are strikes that cover several working periods of workers from the CP and Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP), stoppages that were caused by the platform of the unions.
The National Union of Drivers of the Portuguese Railways (SMAQ) is also on strike throughout April.
Workers’ demands include “efficient wage increases”, “traction career evaluation” and improved working conditions in driver’s cabs and social facilities, as well as safety conditions on lines and in parks to protect motor material.
There is also a need for “humanization of duty lists, fixed meal times and reduction of rest time outside headquarters”, “an effective protocol for psychological support of train drivers in case of people getting stuck on the way and accidents”. “and “recognition and evaluation of the professional requirements and training of machinists by the new legislative framework.”
