Portugal has 432 Blue Flags this year. The European Blue Flag Association announced this Thursday that the swimming season’s high quality title includes 394 beaches, 17 marinas and 21 ecotourism boats.
There are 347 coastal beaches. Compared to last year, there are four more titled beaches washed by the sea. There are 47 inland beaches, down three from 2022.
Famous beaches such as Moledo (Caminha), Buarcos (Figueira da Foz), Tamaris (Cascais), Troya (Grandola) or Quarteira (Lulé) will be marked with the Blue Flag this summer. Sintra is the only municipality on the Atlantic coast that does not have a Blue Flag.
Coros and Montemor-o-Velho applied for river beaches for the first time.
