Jorge Messi, Lionel Messi’s father and spokesman, has denied that his son has already agreed a contract with any club for next year. “There is absolutely nothing with any club next year. There is only one truth, and we can assure you that nothing has been confirmed with anyone. Neither verbal nor signed,” he said Tuesday in a statement posted to Instagram.
The agent of the Argentine world champion on Tuesday reacted to the news, which reported on Messi’s agreement with the team from Saudi Arabia. Jorge Messi insists that a decision will only be made after the end of his son’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain.
“The decision will never be made before Lionel [Messi] finish the season with PSG. Once the season is over, there will be time to analyze and see what needs to be done to make a decision,” Jorge said in a statement.
Lionel Messi has made 37 appearances for Paris this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 19 assists.
The Argentinian, who this year’s world champion, arrived at PSG last season when he won the league and the Super Cup.
This year, after the French again failed to win the Champions League, Messi was criticized by the fans.
Criticism intensified after the Argentine star traveled to Saudi Arabia without the club’s permission last week. The Parisians disqualified Messi, who was forced to apologize to the club.
