Ukraine’s new ambassador to Lisbon presented his credentials at the Foreign Ministry this Wednesday, thanking Portugal for its support in the midst of the Russian invasion and highlighting Ukraine’s intention to join the European Union and NATO.
Marina Mikhailenko was received by Secretary General of the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Francisco Ribeiro Telles to present copies of his credentials, leaving words of gratitude to “Portugal and the Portuguese for showing solidarity with Ukraine from the first day of aggression.” unprovoked Russia on a large scale,” reads a note from the Kyiv office in Lisbon.
“It was stressed that Portugal’s assistance in both the military and humanitarian spheres is highly valued in Ukraine, and the hope was expressed for its continuation until the full restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders,” the message says.
