Thousands of road racing enthusiasts will take to the tracks of Rally Portugal from this Thursday. World Cup 5 kicks off this morning with the Shakedown in Baltar (Paredes), an out-of-competition event meant only to provide great spectacle. Later (20:30) the official departure takes place at the Porta Ferrea of the University of Coimbra.
The competition ends on Sunday. The last special stage (Power Stage with 15 extra points awarded to the top five) again takes place in Fafe.
In terms of competition, Briton Elfin Evans (Toyota) enters the Portuguese race in the lead of the World Cup with the same 69 points as France’s Sebastien Ogier (Toyota). This one, however, will not be present as it will compete in the championship for the second year in a row.
The stages (time slots) start this Friday, the day the race, which only takes place in the center and north of the country, debuts in the “super special” in Figueira da Foz.
