The Allied Criminal Investigators Association of the Judicial Police suspended an overtime strike that began in April after a “sign of good faith” from the Minister of Justice in dealing with two of its three claims.
Speaking to Lusa, Carla Pinto, president of the Union of Judicial Police Criminal Investigation Service (ASFIC-PJ), said that “despite continuing to work with values much lower” than usual, guardianship has increased. the cost of night hours of picketing and prevention from 3.61 euros to 6.43 euros, as well as the resolution of other claims with the publication of an ordinance establishing a quota for the transition to availability at the age of 55 with 36 years of service.
According to the leader of the union, Minister Catarina Sarmento e Castro pledged in negotiations to be able to regulate overtime by the end of the year so that the regulation would come into force on January 1, 2024, the third of the demands put forward to justify the strike.
Carla Pinto said she “believes in guardianship” given her ability to regulate overtime, but left a warning that if it doesn’t, new measures will be put in place to deal with it.
Regarding the decision to suspend the overtime strike, Carla Pinto said it was not voted unanimously, with many employees in favor of keeping the strike on until the Justice Department regulates overtime.
About 95% took part in the overtime strike, according to the union.
One of the main reasons that led to the strike, which began on April 1 and affected the work of the prevention units and all work carried out outside working hours, that is, from 12:30 to 14:00 and from 17:00:30 pm and 9:00, was lack of updates from the guardianship of picket values and preventive additions.
Other reasons for the strike were the unsettled statutes for special positions and the stagnation in negotiations with the leadership and the Ministry of Justice.
In mid-April, in statements to Luce Carla Pinto that ASFIC-PJ was unable to pinpoint the number of services that had to be postponed as a result of the strike, but added that several operations that were supposed to take place were canceled after business hours.
