Ben Healy wins at Fossombrone, Roglic leads Evenepoel by 14 seconds and Leknessund keeps the pink jersey

Euskaraz irakurri: Healyk irabazi du 8. stage, Roglicek 14 second sartu dizkio Evenepoeli eta Leknessundek leader jarraitzen du

The Irish Cyclist EF Education First Ben Healy ha cattle this Saturday the eighth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2023, capping off a great getaway and after completing the last 50 kilometers alone. Andreas Leknessundthe Norwegian cyclist DSMremains one more day as Giro leader, after a day that has been exciting in its final stretch; when it seemed that the favorites for the general classification were going to reserve, one more day, strength for other stages, it has arrived, with five kilometers to go, an attack by Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma)that has managed to leave behind Leknessund and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step), his great rival for the final victory. Roglic, thus, has obtained an income of 14 seconds over Evenepoeland has climbed to third place overall.

On the eve of the Cesena time trial, which will take place this Sunday, the general is left in a handkerchief. Leknessund has eight seconds ahead of Evenepoel, who will try to recover the pink jersey that he already wore in the first days of the Giro, and Roglic is half a minute behind the Belgian; four other cyclists are less than a minute behind the leader, and it seems that the race does not have a clear dominator, with several riders at a high level and determined to fight.

Thus, the stage of this Saturday has had two different fights: on the one hand, the victory in the day, which Healy has managed to unbalance in his favor with a magnificent performance; on the other hand, that of the general, which has arrived when it was hardly expected, but has left moments of interest and significant images. The truth is that it has been difficult to form the getaway of the day; a small group of runners, among whom was the Irishman himself from EF Education First, has fought to leave the peloton behind, still with many kilometers to go, and finally they have managed to open a gap, placing a difference of around four minutes. The escape, which consisted of 13 men and which also included Mattia Bais, brother of Davide, winner of the Gran Sasso, and Valentin Paret-Peintre, winner of Lago Laceno, had an advantage with 50 kilometers to go that could make its members think that they were going to risk the victory in the stage.
