An American child missing for about six years was found on Monday in North Carolina, USA. Kayla Unbehaun, now 15, was allegedly abducted by her foster mother at the age of nine.
The child was identified by the owner of a store in the US state, according to the TV channel. Fox News. The man admitted that he called the police after he recognized the girl from the TV series Unsolved Mysteries (Mysteries to Solve, in Portuguese), which featured Kayla.
The missing girl’s mother has been charged with child abduction. On the day of her disappearance, Kayla’s father was about to pick her up from her mother’s home in Illinois when he realized that the two of them had packed their bags and they weren’t there.
The father reacted to the appearance of his daughter after about six years. “I love you and miss you. I can’t wait for the day when I see you again. I’m glad you’re back in my life,” he wrote on social media.
The child is in police custody. Authorities have already confirmed with a DNA test that it is Kayla Unbehaun.
