What are doubloons? Why TikTok has taken over the imaginary “currency” cat meme.

Have you seen the word “Dublons” or “Dublons” a lot lately and don’t understand what’s going on?

Don’t worry. You’re not alone.

A new trend is taking over TikTok and leaving some people in the dark.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Dablon movement.

What are Dablons?

Maybe you know this word better doubloons pages of history (or pirated films). These are gold coins that appeared in Spain in the 16th century and have been used as a means of payment for centuries.

In its modern incarnation, the reference originated from a 2021 meme (or course) of a cat holding out its paw and the phrase “four strokes”. Each finger was worth a doubloon. The Know Your Meme website says the post is actually from Instagram, but it has become just as popular on TikTok.

Not surprisingly, this trend has now developed. “Dubloons” now refers to a fictitious currency circulating on TikTok that began in November 2022.

This is a fictitious currency used to trade fictitious items. A little fun. It doesn’t actually exist, so don’t confuse it with cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

How it works?

In fact, it’s all one big game: people create “Dablons” by simply summing up the number of Dablon views online. When you see doubloons, you literally get doubloons, and each meme is worth four doubloons.

Humans compose this Dabloon economy down to the smallest detail. You can track Dabloon debt, Dabloon theft, Dabloon inflation, and even Dabloon IRS claims.

Dabloon stores like @dabloonggrocerystore have launched innocuous items like eggs and flour. You may come across videos of cats saying “Hello Traveler” as if you were a weary adventurer surfing the internet. They will then offer you various items at prices in doubloons that you can choose from.

You need to track your own Dabloon output, which is what some people do with Excel spreadsheets.

TikTok user @britedragon explained that everyone plays the Neopets game and everyone just plays it.

Some people started giving away endless doubloons, but it wrecked the economy.

At the time of writing, the Dabloons hashtag has been viewed 520 million times on TikTok.

Singer Lauren Grey, who has 54.5 million followers on TikTok and is also following the trend, posted a video saying, “I don’t remember how many doubloons I have. Every second TikTok I see says, “Here’s the Dabloon checkpoint, here’s 100 Dabloons. Oh no, the Dabloon economy is collapsing.”
