This morning, the Hive smart home app stopped working, leaving customers unable to control their heating.
The Hive app usually allows users to control things like home lighting and central heating from their phone.
Hive reported the first problems just before 9 am. A statement on its website says, “We are experiencing a technical problem. We are working on a solution. Voice integration and manual control will not be affected for most users.”

Users are complaining about social media crashes. Philip Crewe tweeted: “Hive not open this morning? I can’t log in to the heating control website and the app (Android or iPhone) won’t connect.”
Kirsten Riley added: “The Hive app has stopped working. I keep getting “Oops, something’s wrong” even after reinstalling the app. I tried to call, but your phone lines don’t seem to work either… not even ringing! What happened?!”
Hive said customers should still be able to control their heating with their thermostats, and that voice commands like Alexa should not be affected for most users.
