The Government of Spain transposes the European directive so that in 2025 All mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the Spanish State incorporate a single chargera USB type C charging port, as reported by the Minister of Digital Transformation of the Spanish Executive, José Luis Escrivá.
The Council of Ministers has approved the modification of the regulation on the marketing of radio equipment from a royal decree of May 6 to require a single charger. In this way, starting next year all chargers for mobile phones, tablets, cameras, headphones, speakers or portable game consoles, among others, must be type C to offer a greater user comfort.
There will no longer be a need for a different charger for each new device. Thanks to the approved legislation, consumers will be able to use a single charger for a variety of newly purchased small and medium-sized portable electronic devices, which must have an integrated USB type C port.
Regardless of the manufacturer, the obligation will apply to all mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, e-books, keyboards and mice, as well as video game consoles, speakers, navigation systems and laptops. .
For laptops, the same obligation will come into force in April 2026, Escrivá added.
