Why am I not receiving any emails? What to do if emails do not arrive in Hotmail, Gmail and Outlook?

There are a number of issues that may prevent you from receiving emails. Here’s what to do to fix them in Gmail, Outlook, and Hotmail.

How to restore Gmail

If you are not receiving emails in Gmail, the most likely reason is that your Google Drive is full.

You can see how much space you have by looking at the left toolbar on the main Google Drive page.

Deleting old emails is one way to free up disk space. You can also free up space by deleting large files on your Google Drive.

If you don’t want to delete anything, you can upgrade your Google Drive for a fee. Google Drive allows users to store up to 15GB of files for free, but a standard Google One account gives you 100GB of storage for £1.59 per month.

If disk space isn’t an issue, make sure expected emails aren’t being filtered to another folder. Gmail automatically filters your email into your primary inbox, promotions and social networks, and your spam folder.

Another potential issue affecting iPhone users is that your Google account is not associated with your mail app. To add an account to the Mail app, open Settings > Email > Accounts > Add account.

Gmail on iPhone can also have issues with IMAP. IMAP is a system that allows you to transfer information to and from your phone. You can enable it in your web browser by opening Gmail and clicking the gear icon in the top right corner. Then click Show all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP > IMAP Access > Enable IMAP.

Restore Outlook

Microsoft says that if you can’t send or receive email in Outlook, you may need to update your password. Your account may also be temporarily suspended for detecting unusual login activity.

If your mailbox is full, you will not be able to send or receive email. Check your Outbox or mailbox storage to see what’s taking up space.

You can also use your Another and make sure there are no filters that prevent you from seeing all your posts.

If you’re still having issues, check your junk email settings and your junk email folder. If there are messages that should not have been marked as spam, right-click on each email and select Mark as unwanted to move them back to your inbox.

Fix hotmail

As with Gmail and Outlook, the likely cause is that you don’t have enough disk space to receive email.

To check your storage space, click the gear icon in the top right corner, and then click View all Outlook settings > General > Storage. You may need to delete some emails. An easy way to do this is to empty the Junk Mail folder, which can be done by right-clicking it and selecting empty folder.

If you’re still having problems, check your junk email settings and your junk email folder. If there are messages that shouldn’t have been marked as junk, right-click each email and select “Mark as junk” to move them back to your inbox.

Hotmail allows you to set up a target inbox that separates your email into two tabs. Make sure the expected email is not in another tab. You can move an email to your inbox by right-clicking it and then clicking Switch to selected mailbox.
