Tonight, Twitter users are having trouble uploading links and images to the social media platform.
The problem arose just after 4:30 pm UK time, when thousands of problem reports were being logged using the Down Detector tracking website.
Here’s what we know about the apparent outage, which came just days after users reported issues with charts not loading, and what the company had to say about it.
What happened to Twitter?
Users attempting to click on links to external websites posted in Tweets received errors, and the images in the Tweets were not displayed. Others have reported being unable to access the platform at all.
People who click the links receive the following error: “Your current API plan does not include access to this endpoint, see https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api for more information.”

Twitter support confirmed the issues in a statement posted on the platform, saying they were due to “internal changes”.
The account tweeted: “Currently, some parts of Twitter may not work as expected.
“We made an internal change that had some unintended consequences. We are currently working on it and will release an update when the issue is resolved.”
Elon Musk, the controversial CEO of Twitter, seemed to admit the mistake when he tweeted, “This platform is so fragile (sigh). It will be decided soon.”
Due to ongoing technical issues with the platform, it is not possible to embed any of these tweets into this article, as is usually the case.
