O2 customers have received reports that their 4G calls have been disabled.
Calling over 4G means your phone stays on the 4G network when you make or receive a call, so your internet doesn’t slow down. This means you can access data at 4G speeds even while on the phone.
Customers are complaining on Twitter, saying they have received alerts that “O2 has disabled 4G calling on your account.”
Jamie Gallagher said: “What does this notice mean, please? Why are 4G calls disabled?
Another customer added: “I just got a notification that you have disabled 4G calls on my account – why would that be?”
The problem began to appear for some users at the end of February, for others it occurred over the weekend.
How to turn 4G calls back on?
According to O2, this notification typically appears for customers who received a data update for their device at night or when the network has changed.
The operator said: “The device performs this network check every time it restarts at 24 hour intervals. Updating user data often requires a device reboot.”
O2 has responded to a number of people reporting the issue and has provided a simple fix.
First you need to turn your phone off and on again.
Then go Settings > Cellular data > Cellular settings > Voice & data > VoLTE and check if 4G calls are enabled.
