Who Owns Pornhub? The origins of the adult site and MindGeek are explored in a new Netflix documentary, Money Shot.

Pornhub is the focus of a Netflix documentary that promises “an in-depth look at the site’s successes and scandals.”

Pornhub is the 10th largest website in the world and also the most famous porn site, but who is behind it?

Here’s everything you need to know about Pornhub owners.

What Money Shot: The Story of Pornhub around?

Netflix says:pornhub, the most popular adult entertainment platform on the Internet, has revolutionized the way pornography is created and distributed. This allowed adult content creators to reach huge audiences, earning the company billions of dollars, but it has also been implicated in allegations including non-consensual content and commerce on the site.

“Can the online giant protect those it profits from while anti-trafficking groups seek justice for the victims, or is this another wave of censorship for consensual adult performers?”

This happened after Pornhub became the subject of a comment in The newspaper “New York Times in December 2020. He accused the site of sex trafficking and unauthorized distribution of videos about sex and child abuse.

In a statement to the newspaper, Pornhub said it was “clearly committed to fighting child sexual abuse material” and said it had an “industry-leading” safety policy.

However, after this story, Pornhub also made changes to their platform, meaning that only verified users can upload content, and users can only upload paid content.

“Over the years, we have taken robust measures to protect our platform from non-consensual content,” the Pornhub blog post reads.

“While leading non-profit and advocacy groups acknowledge that our efforts have been effective, we know there is still more to be done.”

The documentary was directed by Suzanne Hillinger, who wanted to find out how this scandal affected sex workers.

In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Hillinger said, “I think it’s a huge responsibility to tell a really honest and detailed story, and not to oversimplify or sensationalize porn actors and porn in general – which often happens in films. .” about the event industry.

“I just thought that this story about the biggest porn platform is missing voices – and it is people who bring profit to the company,” added Hillinger. “So I really wanted to tell the story of Pornhub, especially through the lens of people doing consensual pornography, because I just felt there was a real lack of entertainment.”

Who Owns Pornhub?

The site is owned by parent company MindGeek based in Montreal. He also reportedly owns Redtube, Youporn and XTube.

financial times wrote in 2020 that it belongs to Bernard Bergemar, also written by Bernd Bergmayr, whose identity was only known to a few executives and consultants before the paper revealed it.

The company is said to “rise above the porn industry in Europe and America.” It further states: “The Luxembourg-registered group, which generated just over $460 million in revenue in 2018, attracts over 115 million daily visitors to its websites.”

Weiss also revealed in 2021 that he is the majority shareholder.

FT further clarified that MindGeek was formerly called Manwin and owned by Fabian Tillmann until he sold it to Feras Antun and David Tassillo in 2012.

In June 2022, chief executive officer Antun and chief operating officer Tassillo stepped down, but they are believed to keep their stakes, Reuters reported.

In a statement shared with diversity At the time, MindGeek confirmed that they had left the tech company after ten years.

“Because the company is strategically focused on long-term growth, MindGeek management will perform day-to-day operations on a temporary basis and will look for a replacement,” the statement said.
