What is a coronation emoji? What does the St. Edward’s Crown symbol mean and how to use it on Twitter

Buckingham Palace has unveiled an official emoji to mark the coronation of King Charles III.

The monarch and queen will be crowned in a ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May. Details will be announced as the big day approaches.

One of the fancier features is the new emoji. This is the first British coronation, which makes sense given that the late queen’s last coronation took place 70 years ago, before the invention of social media and the Internet.

What does coronation emoji mean?

The colorful emoji features a cartoon motif of a 17th century jeweled St. Edward’s Crown in solid gold with a purple velvet cap.

These are the royal regalia used in honor of King Charles III. to be crowned on May 6, fitted to his head.

As usual, he will exchange it for the lighter Reichsstaatskrone at the end of the coronation ceremony.

CORRECTION-EMBARGO IS ON AGAIN UNTIL SUNDAY, APRIL 9 10:30 PM BST. How to use coronation emoji on twitter?

The palace said the coronation weekend image will appear on Twitter from Monday, April 10, when certain coronation-related hashtags will be used. These:

  • #Coronation
  • #KroningsConcert
  • #coronation weekend
  • #CoronationBigDinner

The royal family’s platinum anniversary emoji was a corgi with a crown named PJ.

A cartoon image of the happy dog - the late Queen’s favorite breed – appeared on the monarchy’s official Twitter account with the message: “Meet PJ Corgi, our anniversary emoji!”

PJ wore a purple and platinum crown – the colors of the anniversary – and stuck out his tongue. It automatically appeared on Twitter when users added anniversary hashtags.

What other crown jewels appear at the coronation?

In addition to Charlemagne’s crown, the invaluable set of crown jewels of the Crown Jewels, which were used during the services, have also been confirmed.

It includes the Sovereign’s Orb, Golden Spurs, bracelets known as Armillos, two maces, five symbolic swords, the Sovereign’s Ring, the Sovereign’s Scepter with a cross, and the Sovereign’s Scepter with a dove.

Camilla will be surmounted by a custom-made Crown of Queen Mary, but she will also hold the Queen Consort’s baton with a dove, although the controversial staff is made of ivory.

This is to symbolize justice and mercy, and the dove with folded wings represents the Holy Spirit.

Camilla will also hold the Queen’s Crossed Scepter, originally made for the coronation of Mary of Modena, Queen James II, in 1685 and adorned with rock crystal.

As part of the procedure, she is presented with the Queen Consort’s ring, a gold-set ruby chosen by the Queen Mother for the coronation of King William IV.
