Twitter workers resign after Musk’s ultimatum

The owner and his closest advisers are meeting with employees whom they consider essential to the running of the company and asking them not to leave.

Several Twitter employees have announced this Thursday on the social network itself that they had decided to leave the company, after the ultimatum issued by its new owner, Elon Musk, who urged them to work hard or leave the firm.

Apart from the employees themselves in the networks, American media such as the New York Times They cite internal company sources confirming that many employees have chosen to leave and that the company itself is trying to convince some of them not to leave.

According to this information, Musk himself and his closest advisers are meeting with employees whom they consider fundamental to the operation of the company and asking them not to leave.

The newspaper figures in hundreds the workers who would have already notified the company of their departure.

This is the result of the ultimatum Musk gave his employees on Wednesday, offering them a choice between two options: commit to working long hours and extremely harshly or leave the company with an indemnity of three months salary.

The owner of the social network sent an email to the staff in which he announced that to create Twitter 2.0 it will be necessary to “work many hours at high intensity” and that only those who offer “exceptional performance” will make the cut.

“If you’re sure you want to be a part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below,” the message said, adding a link to a form each employee can fill out.

“Anyone who has not done so by 5pm ET tomorrow (Thursday) will receive three months of compensation,” adds Musk, giving a deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, New York time (11:00 p.m. in the Basque Country).
