Former diplomat Mohamed Larbi Zeitout, blogger Amir Buhors and activist Yasmine Si Haj Mohand were sentenced this Sunday to 20 years in prison in Algiers for “membership in a terrorist organization” and “spreading” their ideas.
The Dar el-Beida Criminal Court in Algeria found the three men guilty of “membership in a terrorist organization” and “spreading” the ideas of that organization via the Internet against the national interest.
Algerian justice has also confirmed an international search and arrest warrant for Zeytut and Bukhor, issued for the first time in 2020 after they were accused of infiltrating the peaceful Hirak protest movement to radicalize it, Efe news agency reported.
