China says it’s preparing a manned mission to the moon by 2030

China announced on Monday that it has begun the “manned moon landing phase” of its lunar exploration program, a goal it plans to reach before 2030, ahead of three astronauts into orbit.

China Manned Space Agency Deputy Director Lin Xiqiang explained at a press conference that the China Space Engineering Administration has “started developing” projects that include “new research vehicles, astronaut suits, next-generation spacecraft and new rockets.”

The work aims to enable “short stays on the moon,” “joint exploration of man and machine,” and the tasks of “landing on the moon, moving across the surface, collecting minerals, scientific exploration, and returning to Earth,” Lin said. . said.
