Nine people have been detained in Ukraine for filming and posting on social media footage of the interception of Russian missiles and drones by Ukrainian air defense systems, the country’s authorities said on Wednesday.
The detainees, seven women and two men aged between 23 and 49, by their actions “managed to reveal” “details of the work of the air defense”, which, according to the authorities, can be useful for planning attacks by Russian forces.
On Monday, two other men were also arrested for posting sensitive military information on social media.
Ukrainian authorities often asked their citizens not to film or broadcast footage of military operations.
Showing some of these videos allows Russia to understand where its missiles landed and thus adjust the trajectory of future attacks. In addition, intercept recordings can give an idea of the location of Ukrainian air defenses.
Despite this, this type of content continues to circulate on social media following every drone and missile attack by Russia.
