President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited the flooded Kherson region in the south of the country this Thursday to discuss measures to deal with the consequences of the flood caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka dam.
“Many important issues have been discussed. The operational situation in the region as a result of a natural disaster, the evacuation of the population from areas of possible flooding, the elimination of an emergency caused by a dam breakthrough, the organization of life support in flood zones,” Zelensky said in Telegram, quoted by Reuters.
“It is important to calculate the damage and allocate funds to compensate residents affected by the disaster, and develop a program to compensate for losses or relocate businesses to the Kherson region,” Zelensky added.
