The Vatican reported this Thursday that the night “went well” and that a new medical bulletin would be handed out within a day after the doctor who operated on him, Sergio Alfieri, said the operation went well, that Francis woke up and that he even cracked a few jokes. .
“The medical team that accompanied dad in the postoperative period reported that he had a good night and was able to rest for a long time; he is in good condition, conscious and breathing spontaneously,” Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said in a note.
Bruni added that “routine control procedures are good and that during the day the Pope will take the necessary postoperative rest.”
