More than eight million people evacuated in Japan due to the arrival of an “unprecedented” typhoon

Local authorities have issued a Level 5 alert, the highest on the Japanese disaster alert scale. Various meteorological phenomena have shaken different parts of the world in recent hours.

At least eight million people from 3.7 million households have been ordered to evacuate in southern and western Japan due to the arrival of the Typhoon ‘Nanmadol’an “unprecedented” storm, according to Japanese authorities.

The evacuation orders specifically affect the regions of Kiushu, Shikoku and Chugokuwhere they have already been accounted for 33 people injured for incidents related to the storm, reports public television NHK.

Local authorities have issued an alert level 5, the highest on the Japanese disaster alert scale, both in Kiushu and in Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. In these last two areas, more than 110,000 people from 55,000 households have been alerted.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a special warning on Sunday for an “unprecedented” typhoon due to the imminent danger of floods, rising rivers and landslides.

The storm made landfall near the city of Kagoshima, on the island of Kiushu, around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. After will continue its route to Chugokuin western Japan, at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour.

The typhoon could bring “unprecedented storm surges, high waves and storm surges”as detailed by the Japan Meteorological Agency in a statement.

Likewise, various meteorological phenomena have shaken different parts of the world in recent hours.
