Ukraine’s counteroffensive is a “gradual” process that is in the phase of reconnaissance of Russian defensive lines and will gradually gain momentum, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidential administration, said on Thursday.
“The counter-offensive is not one action, but many different and gradual operations, the intensity of which will increase,” Podolyak said in an interview with the Spanish news agency EFE, referring to the Ukrainian military campaign that began more than two weeks ago on three different sectors of the front in Donetsk province in the east and Zaporozhye in the southeast.
The adviser to the President of Ukraine explained that the current stage of the campaign “shapes” the counter-offensive itself through actions that “allow to test the Russian defense systems.”
