The Spanish Guard confiscated more than three kilograms of cannabis and detained two Portuguese citizens in the Torremejias district, Badajoz province, on suspicion of crimes against public health, security forces said.
A statement from the Badajoz Civil Guard Command explained that the arrests were made on Friday after the military intercepted a car with two passengers, both residents of Lisbon.
According to Spanish authorities, the two had “clear symptoms of nervousness and elusive behavior”, so the Guardia Civil conducted a search of the car.
During the search, he added, the military found packaged drugs in the trunk of the car, which were “presumably bound for Lisbon.”
According to the Guardia Civil, there were “two plastic bags containing three kilograms and 100 grams” of cannabis, the equivalent of 9,300 single doses, in the trunk of the car.
The detainees were charged with crimes against public health and appeared before the Almendralejo Court.
