The predatory animal was spotted on Thursday evening in Berlin, and initially German police assumed it was a lioness. However, new estimates suggest it may have been a wild boar.
According to the German newspaper Buildwildlife expert Derk Elert, has not ruled out the possibility that it is a lioness, but has yet to see any evidence that it is a cat.
“In this video, I see two boars running from left to right.” The claim is supported by the fact that the tail of the animal in question, which is visible in the video, is too short.
German police on Thursday advised residents of the southwestern district of Berlin not to leave their homes because of suspicions that a lioness roams the city.
According to Reuters, about 100 police officers participated in the search for the animal.
