Norway will coordinate the sphere of defense equipment in Ukraine

Norway decided to help Ukraine in organizing the production of defense equipment, the Norwegian government press service reported on August 28.

In March this year, the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Norwegian Defense Equipment Agency (NDMA) signed a statement of intent, which implies support for the Ukrainian side in the formation of a structure for the acquisition of defense material. materials.

“Norway will now also lead work at the strategic level in NATO, which coordinates efforts to develop cooperation in the field of defense materials between allied countries and Ukraine. The sector will develop towards Western standards and working methods.”says the message.

NATO is reviewing defense acquisitions in Ukraine. The review will be completed within one year. It will formulate concrete assistance measures in the field of defense of the country, which will receive financing from NATO support funds. Norway will coordinate this work within NATO.

The agreement signed by Norway with Ukraine on March 19 was also interesting for other allied countries. Now Great Britain and Sweden have joined this work.

“In Ukraine there are serious corruption problems in the field of defense contracting. Since NATO turned to Norway for help in 2014, we have been supporting Ukraine by ensuring the integrity of laws, regulations and procedures for proper defense acquisition.”says Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram.
