The government claims that over the past two months, 9,000 new free kindergarten places have been created thanks to a resolution to increase response capacity, currently, according to the Minister of Labor, there are 85 thousand places in the world.
On the day that marks one year since the introduction of the Creche Feliz measure, the network of free kindergartens, Prime Minister António Costa, Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security Ana Méndez Godinho and Secretary of State for Inclusion Ana Sofia Antunes visited the nursery at Centro Infantil Antonio Marques Mutualista “Nossa Señora da Conception” in Montijo and summed up the free nursery.
This is a measure that applies to children born after September 1, 2021, in addition to all children from families in income groups 1 and 2.
According to Minister Ana Méndez Godinho, over the past two months, and thanks to the entry into force of the regulation of July 5, which allowed for an increase in the maximum number of children in a room and the renovation of premises previously intended for children, more than 9,000 vacancies have been created.
“We broke the traditional bureaucracy of permission complexity to make this happen, turning it into automatic authorization as long as the quality requirements for children’s services remain, and with this regulation, we opened 9,000 new vacancies in two months. thanks to the Decree on Simplification for the Benefit of the People,” said the Minister of Labor.
