Erdogan will receive the British prince at the end of September – Bloomberg

Britain’s Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, will be received by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the end of September 2023 amid strengthening relations between the countries in the trade and defense fields, Bloomberg reported on the 15th. September, citing his own sources.

According to the agency’s interlocutors, during his stay in Turkey, Prince Edward will participate in a gala dinner and visit a British school.

“Turkey is in talks with the United Kingdom to expand the scope of the existing free trade agreement, and is also in talks with Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc to jointly produce engines for its tank and military aircraft projects.”sources said.

They also noted that Ankara is interested in purchasing three Type 23 frigates to replace its obsolete ships.

Recall that the British Foreign Secretary, James Cleverley, visited Turkey on September 13 and 14, 2023. During the negotiations with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, they focused on the issue of preliminary preparations to expand the scope of the agreement free trade and diversify bilateral trade, which amounts to about 20 million dollars (1.95 billion rubles).
