US President Joe Biden on Tuesday accused Russia of being “solely responsible” for the invasion of Ukraine and said no nation could be safe if “Ukraine is allowed to be divided.”
“Russia believes that the world will get tired and allow Ukraine to be brutally treated without consequences. But I ask you: if we abandon the fundamental principles of the UN Charter in order to appease an aggressor, can any Member State be confident that it is protected? If we allow Ukraine to be divided, will any nation be safe?” Biden asked in his speech to the UN General Assembly.
The US leader criticized Russia’s “blatant aggression” and called on world leaders to protect Ukraine’s sovereignty to “deter other possible aggressors tomorrow.”
