A major fire that broke out in a car park on Tuesday led to the suspension of all flights at Luton Airport in north London and a ban on travelers from approaching the site.
A statement from the infrastructure explained that emergency services and firefighters went to the Terminal 2 parking lot to extinguish a fire that had spread among parked vehicles.
“Access to the airport is currently limited and we ask people not to come to the airport at this time,” the same source stressed.
Videos posted on social media showed flames engulfing the upper floors of the building.
According to emergency services in the east of England, cited by the BBC, no casualties have been reported yet.
Bedfordshire Fire Brigade said at least 10 fire engines were sent to the scene and continued to battle the fire, adding that 80% of the third floor of the car park was damaged.
Luton is located approximately 50 km north of London and is mainly used by budget airlines such as EasyJet or Ryanair.
