Spanish police have rescued more than 400 animals in an operation against an animal trafficking ring and detained thirteen people in Barcelona.
Rescued animals are essentially expensive breeds of dogs and cats.
The network, which included a veterinarian, was involved in the trade of pets purchased in countries in the eastern European Union. These entities were engaged in illegal breeding of animals that were sold through social networks, in accordance with the law. Reuters.
In this operation, the Spanish police collaborated with Interpol and the Andorran police.
Photos released by authorities were taken Sept. 20 and show officers entering homes, veterinary centers and pet stores, arresting suspects and rescuing animals.
