Paddy Cosgrave steps down as CEO of Web Summit

Paddy Cosgrave, previously CEO of Web Summit, will step down from his role at the technology company, according to a report. Independence Sunday, which quotes the Irishman’s statement.

“Unfortunately, my comments were a distraction to the event, our team, sponsors and startups.”

The change in company management will not affect the event from November 13 to 16 in Lisbon, the British newspaper reports. Web Summit is expected to announce a new CEO soon.

Paddy Cosgrave also apologizes if he offended anyone with his comments. The 41-year-old businessman said after the recent outbreak of conflict in the Middle East that “War crimes are still war crimes, even if committed by allies.”

The announcements have prompted several companies such as Alphabet, owner of Google, and Meta, which owns platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. inform them that they will not be attending the event.
