“I will always love you”: the fiancee of a hockey player who was hit by a skate blade reacted to the death of her partner

The fiancee of Adam Johnson, the hockey player who died after being struck in the throat by a skate blade, paid tribute to her partner on Monday.

“My sweet, sweet angel. I will miss you and love you always,” Ryan Wolfe wrote on Instagram.

Adam Johnson, who played for Nottingham Panthers, was involved in an accident on Saturday during the match against Sheffield Steelers. He was treated at the skating rink and taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

The 23-year-old got engaged over the summer. Throughout his career, Johnson represented teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers before joining the Nottingham Panthers.

An investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances of the incident.
