US President Joe Biden signed an executive order this Monday regulating the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, establishing guarantees of privacy, security and fairness and calling for international cooperation on this issue.
“To realize the potential of AI and avoid risk, we must regulate this technology,” the president said as he signed the order, noting that AI is now everywhere.
The order is divided into eight areas: AI safety, citizen privacy, protection of fairness and civil rights, healthcare use, labor market impacts, innovation and competition, international cooperation, and responsible government use.
