According to council spokesperson Zhang Xin, “technological innovation and research and development” remain the biggest development opportunity for foreign companies in the Chinese market for the third consecutive quarter. At the same time, about half of them are considering increasing investments in the western regions of the country.

More than 80% of foreign companies are satisfied with the business conditions in China, and more than 90% are satisfied with the tax rates, Zhang added. Nearly 90% said the processes for finding a place to do business, applying for public infrastructure, resolving business disputes, closing a business and gaining market access were adequate.
